Hmmm. I wondered about you, John! Wasn't it Frank Zappa who said that if you remember the '60s, you weren't really there?
A pink and green Chevy wagon would have been perfect cruising the Haight!
Rick
Good memory ...
& indeed a VERY UGLY color combo !!!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
One of the guidelines we had in the car business was, to put it politely, "There's a behind for every seat." And it was quite true.
I was running a Ford dealership in 1990 when my Truck Manager was somehow able to order a 5 Aerostar mini-vans with the two tone paint option. They were all metallic brown with a huge maroon side spear! I was standing in the showroom when the truck pulled up and said to my Truck guy, who was standing next to me, "Look! Some idiot ordered those Aerostars. They're hideous!"
He became very busy all of a sudden as I watched them unload the vans and bring them around to our service center. I was sure we would have them forever!
The very next day a couple came in, saw one and the husband said, "Those are my two favorite colors!" SOLD!
It took over 6 months but we sold all 5 and managed to
do it without losing a ton of money!
John ...
Your correct about colors are a personal thing. And it's better like that because otherwise we might all be driving same color cars.
Brown & maroon ... maybe but believe me dark green & pink is not done. I'm pretty sure that if the Aerostar mini-vans where pink with a dark green side spear, these would still be 4sale at the Ford dealer
You are correct.
There are some color combination that just should never have been made.
Someday, I'll relate my expereince with a purple boat!
But today's cars seem so boring. . .
I was shopping for a new sedan this past spring, and the colors left me cold. Taupe? A silvery gray? Dull blue? My wife finally chose a silvery green that is okay, I guess, but I still remember the off-white and medium blue two-toning of my '56 Belvedere hardtop. Now that was a combination! No wonder I'm surrounded here at my desk with 1/43s in all those glorious colors! I looked at the Ford 500 (now renamed the Taurus) and couldn't help but think what it would look like with a version of the 1955-56 side chrome and 2 colors. Or maybe I'm just getting senile?
A pink and green unit is on eBay. It is beyond ugly. So much so that I'm not listing the item number
