Upcomming Chevy Brookwood ...
Grin
Would this be the same model as the 43rd avenue 1959 Chevy Estate ??

Similar, Dirk, but not the same. The Forty-Third Avenue '59 Chevy was a Nomad, or the Impala top-of-the-line series. It had the chrome trim
running down the entire side, color-coordinated in the rear section. That is,
the full-sized car did; on the FTA model, the trim piece was painted over.

The Brookwood was the lowest station wagon series, below the Kingswood
and Parkwood models, which were in the Bel Air series with, again, full-side
body trim. The Brookwood had only a small trim piece on the front fenders.
It featured a rather spartan interior and was most often seen in one color
(usually pale blue or beige), while the higher series cars were usually two-
toned.

The Brookwood will make a nice sedan delivery model, but I'm not convinced
of its desirability in basic station wagon trim. I know that some collectors,
like my friend David Knight, are looking forward to it. I'll reserve judgment
until I see it.

Thanks ...

for your expertise Rick, so this means the body is slightly different?

No, just the level of trim on the sides, and upgraded interiors on the higher-series wagons. The Brookwoods, the lower series of the three, were
available either as two-door or four-door wagons. The other series were four-
doors only, I believe.

I have two FTAs---I like them okay but the colors are a little strange.

The bronze one would look good detailed and with a correct interior. Nothing
can be done for the solid-yellow one, except a total repaint!

If you have the April '88 issue of "Collectible Automobile," there's a black and
white photo of the '59 Brookwood shown. Also you can clearly see the differing
levels of side trim on the various series from the pictures in the article.

Is Kager Chevy '59 from 43rd Avenue model?

Who made pattern first? Who copied?

Is City Limits model same as Nomad by Kager and 43rd Avenue? Seems all models are copies.

The Kager was a resin adoption of the diecast Vitesse.

The Vitesse was made as a convertible a 2-door HT, and a pick-up. I know nothing about City Limits.

Wasn't there also a Pink & Light Green version, ugh!

The pink one I've never heard of, but there was a light metallic green.

"Ugh!" is right! The only thing going for that one is that it is similar to the actual
'59 Chevy factory color Cascade Green. The FTA bronze one is not the same as
the factory's Gothic Gold, which was the color of my folks' wagon, and the yellow
doesn't resemble any color Chevy offered on the '59s.

I remember seeing Corona Cream over Cascade Green on Impalas; not a
particularly pleasing combination to my thinking. West Coast Precision Diecast
has done an Impala hardtop in that combination, which can be seen at the Car
List & Reviews tab.

I recall that it was a two-tone, Pink & Green.

Egad! That's even worse than I imagined. The green one is shown in Otto's post just below. A two-tone pink and green one (hallucinogenic,
flower-power car?) just boggles the mind.

That would be even worse than my Vitesse '59 convertible in black with a bright
turquoise interior and white boot. And that one is pretty awful indeed.

pink & green Chevy ...

there indeed is a pink & green version, believe it was the first color made of this model. I saw one several years ago but think the green was a dark green ??

Hmmm...my 60's era psychedelic sensibilities have been offended!

At least I think they have, all my memories from that time seem a bit 'foggy' for some reason....

Anyway, pink, green, black, turquoise...they're all better than paisley!

Could have been dark green, it has been a while.

Glad to see I have not completely lost my mind. It was so ugly that my wife forbid me buying it.
