That's what I want, just like a neighbor was driving when I was a boy, a pre-WW II Willys coupe. Of course I mean in our beloved scale of 1/43.  I think Willys used the name Americar for most of these.  They were light, fast, had a great little four banger engine, and could really scratch up the gravel on the road we shared.  Thanks to Mikansue's Americana models, I have a 4-door sedan (missing its hood ornament, doggone it.)  And even have a hot rod version of the coupe.  Mine is a Universal / Testors kit car, but these modified coupes have also been offered by Eagle's Race and even Motor City.  But they are all hot rods or dragsters or some other kind of modification.

Here's what I'm missing and what I have:

1- a photograph of the 1941/42 Willys Americar

2- the Mikansue Americana 14

3- front and back views of the Universal Testors Americar (fun to build as a kit!)

  I want one so much that I'll buy it even if it's NOT blue!

          Just dreaming, folks.  Enjoy your winter.

None have ever been done in stock form in any scale. I modified a Testor kit 40 years ago as close as possible to the stock version.

Yeah, I'm NO EXPERT in 1/43 but I do believe that if one wants any "stock" Willys .... one MUST modify a gasser.  I THINK there might be a few resin 1/24 or 1/25 pre-war Willys kits out there, can't say I've ever seen a 1/43. 😣

I recall a Forum discussion last year where a number of members mentioned they would like to see this era Willys coupe done in 1:43.  I would buy the late 1930s one and the early 1940s version if they were available,

Know nothing about these, just saw them last night when David started the topic.

PS: seems like the links are blocked, but you can find them on eBay by the titles. Poor builds though.

The MC USA seems better for conversion to stock version as the rear fenders are not chopped as the Testors hot rods ... but the MC are pricy! Otherwise, it just needs bumpers, wheels and hood trim.... and closing the scoop opening ... and new paint.

Well, I've just ordered a '37 coupe made by Cholla Models Enchantment Land Coach Builders.  Since Jerry Rettig is involved, I figure it's worth a shot.  I will post the results as soon as it arrives.   Here's hoping!

                                                        Happy David H

@chav That's gonna be a lot of sanding! I wonder how much finishing there was on the 1:1 ORNL Cobra?

@mg-harv

for sure… I am not planning to finish it. I just wanted to see how easy is to go from purchasing a 3D model online to having something in my hands. So far, it has been very straightforward. Purchased the model for $10, it came in multiple zip folders for different scales. Imported the stl file in the 3D printer slicer, got gcode file and printing within 10 min. A resin printer will make it much smoother.

30 more min to go, then the supports have to be removed…

Was that Cobra 3D printed? if so, it got lots of postprocessing.
