Found one!  Here's my most recent acquisition, which just arrived in today's mail.  This is a 1/43 1937 Willys coupe from Enchantment Land Coachbuilders.  That's Jerry Retting's Arizona site.

I felt it was a little low to the ground, and so I put slightly larger tires on those good looking wheels, plus added a washer both front and back to raise the two screws that holds the frame to the body.

I like this resin one-piece & frame and bumpers body, even though the roof appears to be a little flat.  The paint is what I expect from Jerry Rettig - superb! The interior is hard to see through the small windows but seems quite well done.  I might suggest that the frontal styling (no chrome!) could have been a bit more accentuated, but that's perhaps a minor fault.

Well done, ELC!  My Willys shelves have been enriched!

PS-  I have another version on order.  I'll post pictures when.  . .

I had to look up what a Cholla is!   Makes sense now since he lives in Tucson!   Wonder how Jerry decided which ELC were Cholla Models?

Back again!  I just received the latest of my attempts to find a non-hot rod/ gasser version of the pre-WW II Willys coupe.  First, as I posted above, I ordered the Cholla Coupe made by Enchantment Models.  I thought I reported on that last week, but I can't find it.  So here it is:

This model is the best pre-WW II Willys coupe I have found, and its paint is extremely well done.  Some of the detailing could have been better, but I think that's more in the casting than in the assembly.  I like this one!  It is just what I've been hoping to find!

But at about the same time I was waiting for the Cholla coupe to arrive, I saw an offer on eBay.  Here is what it said:

"Up for auction is a 3D resin printed 1/43 scale 1939 Willys Coupe body as shown.  Also included is a set of window templates to use when cutting your clear styrene windows.  As is with most 3D printed large surfaces, this has a matte finish and a grainy/layered feel as shown so prep work is required for a great finish, but the effort is well worth it to have a body not easily found otherwise.  The layered or ringing finish is predominantly seen on the top surfaces (hood, roof, deck) due to the printed layer thickness set to .05mm (.0019") which provides the best print quality at an affordable price.  This body was printed with an overall length of 94.49mm (not including the bumpers), an overall width of 38mm and an overall height of 30.49mm.  3D printed resin typically cures to a hard form which makes it more brittle to work with.  I have started adding a percentage of flexible resin to combat this issue, however care and patience must still be maintained.  Please research and understand 3D UV cured resin products to know exactly what to expect and the best ways to work with, prepare, assemble and paint it."

The price was low (other scales were also offered), and so I ordered it.  It arrived today, and here it is:

So I put it alongside my Cholla version and then alongside my hot rodded Universal Hobbies product:

Since the newest body has no underpinnings at all, I had to see similarities and/or differences.

An interesting interpretation, and this is my introduction (I think) to resin printing.  The body seems to have about the same weight and strength of the Heller plastic kits that I enjoy building (one under way right now!).  But, with no frame at hand, I'm not sure what my next step will be.

But for now, my Willys display area is looking better and better!

Enjoy!  Happy
