A friend of mine wanted me to draw a cartoon on this well-known phrase.
He wanted me to draw Michael Schumacher being stopped and the policeman asking him, 'Who do you think you are, Lewis Hamilton?'
Moss featured in an advert on TV many years ago, enacting this apparently true incident. I can't remember what he was advertising though!
precisely, Alex
Having said that, I must confess I have drifted towards non US cars in that my lincoln is not my only car.
I do know one thing though, US cars of the 50,s and 60,s were, as daily drivers ,in a class of their own and nothing came close.
As a boy I lived in Japan in the early sixties and my father was an adviser to Isuzu (at that time affiliated with the Rootes group)and was given an Isuzu for a company car, complete with driver. Our other car was a hillman minx, which did not do to much for me(sorry JR).The japanese were very protective of their industry and did not want residents to buy imported cars .I went to school with a lot of US military personnel kids and they were bused to school . It made me sick to get into that Isuzu Bellel, which would often break down on the way home.
There was a steep hill just before we got to school and every morning we would be struggling up this hill with Toyotas and Nissans. Suddenly there would be the burble of a large v8 and in a flash the kids from the US airforce base in Yokota would go flashing by in what seemed to be a stretched out Chevy suburban. Needless to say our driver could not understand why we drove such rubbish. This was a daily occurence and I knew then I had to have an American V8 with just that sound.
I have rambled on a bit.
Magnum & 300C ...
At least you can get a 1/43rd of a Magnum. Still no 300C Touring in 1/43rd :((
I am awestruck with you driving that behemoth of a car through London with LHD!
You are very brave.
Which of them is a behemoth, Dodge or Chevy? Actually quite easily, even my..
... wife zips around those narrow streets. Also never heard RR and Bently drivers complain.
Either one for that matter. Many RR/Bentley drivers are professionals.
No, no, John. It should be Alonso stopped when driving Ferrari, etc., etc.
This is precisely how I think of myself, Mr. Browne. ;-))
"a 1/43rd of a Magnum".Your champagne glasses must be rather small Dirk.
Is that a Rolls or Bentley convertible parked next to your Impala?
Nice neighborhood, definitely not Lambeth.
Somehow I don't think we'll see Fernando in a Ferrari, Alex.
Maybe one of those McLaren supercars. Tough gig, eh?
I think I read that Schumacher's contract called for him to get one of each of every new road Ferrari, in addition to the lousy 22 million dollars Ferrari paid him. I further read that Kimi is making 45 million dollars a year! I guess it's about time he's starting winning, at that level of compensation.

And if you get your pension from Daimler...drive a Mercedes or two.
I'll look forward to trying you out, probably in 2009.
Perhaps we could drive together to Bath for the Brooklin 35th Anniversary bash.
In 2009?... It'll be an old banger then. I hope to make this year's Bath trip in August.
Technically speaking you could have had 300 or Magnum from DC, or PT Cruser if you like it small...
