What I Drive !
I drive a 04 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. Fully Loaded and top of the line with the big V8 GAS GUZZLER Engine which has been enhanced for more horsepower. Yes it is my fault that gas prices are so high. I use it to tow our camping trailer. Very nice car but the best feature on this car is the DVD PLAYER for the kids. A true lifesaver and worth every penny. When I go to get a hamburger or take a drive down the coast here in Southern California I take my 1972 Gran Torino Sport Fastback. It is a driver and about a 15 footer right now. Respectable but not perfect. I am working on that. It is fun to drive and gets lots of thumbs up. Thanks for the fun question, RANDY
I think the 72 model was the best looking Torino
It would be another year before the US mandated the big ugly bumpers. The 72 was a great looking design for a big car with a fastback.
John K. 72 Torino
I agree with you the 72 Torino was the best looking of the Torino's. I have owned 4 of them now and plan on keeping the one I have now. I had a real Cobra Jet 4 speed car in the late 70's that was mint condition. I traded it to the people I bought my first house from for a down payment. It was a good investment in the long run but it is one I car I wish I could have back. I had a 70 Torino GT Convertible that I would love to have back as well. It was a 351 Cobra Jet 4spd car also. I paid $1800.00 for it in 1978. I had a 68 Gto that I pretty much tore up in High School. Your 64 Buick would be a nice car to have today as well. I drove a 66 Lincoln in H.S for about 3 months before I sold it. My friends were teasing me to much. Great car for the drive-in though ! I am 48 years old and have owned over 80 + different cars since I started driving at age 16. I wasted alot of time and money at the car lots where I lived, but it was alot of fun. I have tried to be a little smarter since I started getting older that is until I discovered these 1:43 car's. Take care, RANDY B.
A man after my own heart!
I've had quite a few as well. I've found a great outlet for my passion in these little cars. I spent 20 years in the car business, running dealerships in the Washington DC area. I was like a kid in a candy store, surrounded by everything I really enjoyed and I got a new car every 5,000 miles!

I need to ask why you waited so long to trade cars. 5000 miles, thats like almost six months. I wish I would have waited that long sometimes. I was driving a 86 Toyota 4wd extra cab pick-up with my 2 youg boys with me, I had just put brand new wheels and tires on it and was heading home. Of coarse I always went by the car lots on my way thru town on my way home. I went past the GM dealership and there it was a brand new Generation Firebird with a fire breathing v8 and t- tops and yes it was red, Well me and the boys drove that home instead of the Toyota pickup. It was alot more fun driving that Firebird to work then the pick-up. That is just one of my going to town trips it gets worse or ahh better. I am glad there are others out there like yourself, because it proves I was and I am not crazy. RANDY B.
John K. Part #2
John, There is a second part to the Firebird story. If you would like a good laugh let me know and I will tell you. I do not want to bore you with it otherwise. But you might be able to relate to it. ( There are others on this forum that probably are crazy like this too !) RANDY B.
Sure, let's hear it!
I got a new car evey 5,000 miles because they were dealer demonstrators. I drove them until they had about 5k miles and then put them back on the lot for sale as a 'demo'.I had my pick of any car on the lots I ran. I worked for Ford, Lincoln/Mercury, Chrysler/Plymouth and Jeep during those years.
Part 2
It sounds like you had the job I should have had. It would have saved me some money. Anyway I drove the Firebird for about 3 months. I started having problems with the car. The inside door skins started falling off. Come to find out they were epoxied on (glued). Also the paint on the car was peeling on the top and hood as well. I was not happy. I wanted them to give me a new car. But they refused and said they would have it repaired for me at the local body shop. So I met with a salesman at the body shop to have them look at the car and get a quote for the repaint and to fix the doors. After that the salesman said to go back to the dealership to sign some papers for the work to be done. At this point I was not happy. So I was driving back to the GM dealerhip and on the way or actually right next to the dealership was a Ford dealership. When I turned the corner not a 1/4 mile from the GM lot there was the nicest Ford crew cab 4x4 I had ever seen. Maroon and silver with a matching high $ canopy. You know what I did next already. I pulled into the lot and traded the Firebird for the Pickup inless then 1 hour and the salesman that met me at the body shop walked over and picked up the Firebird and drove it across the street to the GM lot. The GM dealership actually bought the Firebird from Ford. They thought I was nuts. I told the guy I was not nuts just very unhappy with the car and not happy with the way they were handling the problem. So I got rid of it. The Ford guys loved it. I was famous at those 2 dealerships for a few years. Lets just say they knew who I was. Of coarse there are more stories but another day perhaps. I fell out of grace at the Ford lost a couple years later because of a Dodge. As a dealer you probably love these stories and have some of your own. Take Care, RAND B.
