What can you tell me about FYP models?

Were they just Rolls-Royce's or were there others? Who made them? Where were they made? Are they resin?

Dick, I found one that sold recently on eBay: Australia. It was a Rolls limo by Freestone & Webb. The seller identified FYP as being in France. The winning bid was $1,105 Australian.

As far as I am aware FYP, or FYP Creations was Yves Pebernet making very high quality resin models with photo-etched parts and real leather and wood for the interiors. The company started in 1987 and was situated in a town called Labourse in France.

Many of their masters were at first made by Hostaro (Hoogstad) in Annecy, and later by MOG (Maurice et Odile Gourbeyre).

I am unfortunately neither aware of whether they are still active, and what models they have made. I have seen mostly RR models, but at least one Delahaye.

Hope this at least helps a bit.
Arie

Dick answers to your questions .....

Were they just Rolls-Royce's? No
Or were there others? Bentley and Delahaye were represented.
Who made them? FYP I believe these are the initials of the owner who was a R-R enthusiast.
Where were they made? France
Are they resin? yes

Some were released over ten years ago. They are 'the state of the art' in model cars. I have seen some models in the flesh and they are outstanding! Saving up for one!

Good luck Dick if you are going for it!

Cheers Chris

Arie, there were around 25 different types available in 1997.

Thank you Chris and Arie. No, I am not going for it.

A friend just bought a collection which will wind up on ebay in a few weeks. It contains several FYP Rolls'.

FYP prices in 1997 were ............

in two brackets ?265 and ?165. For comparison standard Brooklin issues were ?39.75 and Conquest models ranged from ?107.99 to ?149.95.

I had one of their Hooper-bodied Rolls Royces but sent it back for a refund. They were very good but not as great as Top Marques, IMHO. Mine was defective in that crazy glue "fogging" was noticably apparent on the headlamp covers. At the time I felt shelling out $200 for a detailed model like that should preclude such defects. Too bad, it was a nice car.

FYP

Is my memory failing, or was the first FYP model a somewhat crude golden hawk?

Maybe you were thinking of the Frobley Packard Hawk?

Frobley Hawk

You're right; that's what I was thinking of....

Wasn't the Frobley Packard Hawk based on the Solido Studebaker Hawk?

The only other model of this ugly car was done by B.A.M.

I would think the Solido Studebaker was a better proportioned model than the Frobly Packard...although I've only seen both in pictures. I can't think what possessed Packard (or Studebaker) to make this car. It must have made the traditional Packard enthusiasts weep, perticularly when the original '53 Starliner was so beautiful.
