Are you guys suddenly seeing the same ad for the same model showing up after nearly every other post and then sprinkled within each post? I mean, I get that the site is sponsored but this seems too much, especially since it’s the same model I didn’t want the 20 other times it appeared.

I've noted it, Randy.  I just assumed it was part of the cost of preserving this fine site.  Like television commercials, these ads can just be ignored.  At least these don't blare out.  Who knows?  Somebody may be looking for a

I can think of only one model in my holdings that could make as large a statement if . . .

For me, the part where they insert the add between the posts crosses a line such that I would never purchase anything from that seller no matter what and no matter how good the price. Most of us are too old to put up with, what I consider, such disrespectful marketing. You can get away with that with teenagers but, on this site, it really stands out as obnoxious!

I find it stunningly annoying. I totally understand that nothing worthwhile is free, including this site, but would prefer an annual "campaign drive" for contributions if that's what it takes. Hopefully this is just a system glitch.....

At the very least, maybe they should target the ads  to the scale of the forum they are placed with.

As I was recovering from my recent knee replacement surgery I watched enough TV to confirm what I have long suspected—that for every hour, 32 minutes is actual program and 28 minutes is given over to nauseating ads most often for medications for whatever ailments they can dream up and warning how these medications could also have harmful side effects. I finally resorted to reading a book. I’m having, for some reason, the same reaction to that ad for that 1:18 Corvette. It’s taking up nearly half the space and it’s the same message over and over. I too am curious to know why this ad comes with nearly post.

Understand a ad being show on a header of the thread but just reading this thread it’s shown 4 time, yah,thats overkill and irritating.

David;

The ads you describe are very prevalent on MeTV, where they are mostly targeted at seniors like us.  At first I thought these ads were humorous; the meds for every ailment on the planet, complete with all the rapidly stated side effect warnings.  Then there was all the medical equipment, stair lifts and of course the never-ending insurance ads.  I quickly grew VERY irritated with them all and their frequency and repetitiveness.  Thank goodness for the mute button!  I rarely watch regular TV anymore as the content is often tacky and too violent and needlessly graphic; but I do love MeTV so rely on my mute button for that.  I guess this makes me a grouchy old fart but so be it.  Lol.

I know the ads can be a little annoying, gents. But, the site is fairly expensive to keep running. Until the auctions can get up and running, we are free to our users and funded fully by Legacy and Mint Models. The changeover to the new site was necessary but far more expensive than originally anticipated. So, for now, please be patient and scroll past the ads if you're not interested.

John, if those ads help support the forum then I’m all for’em! I might even respond if a tempting car in 1:43 should show up in an ad. Whatever it takes to keep the site up and running…

Thanks, David. I heard from Legacy. The frequency of the ads was an oversight. His tech man is still learning Word Press so a little patience will go a long way.

Please don’t get me wrong… I realize this is a sponsored site as much of the “free” internet is. My issue was with the sudden over-saturation of ad content and that they were repetitively featuring a product unlikely to interest this group.

I’m not at all opposed to ads, when they’re appropriately targeted. As an example, when I get Diecast X magazine, the first thing I do is flip through the ads because it’s a great source of info for all the new releases.

Glad to see the site has been reset and I’m looking forward to seeing many of you in a couple weeks.
