I just purchased this Johnny "66 GTO. It is a real beauty and absolutely flawless.
I have been wondering for the past several months why there have been very few new Auto World releases and actually very few AW castings on the pegs anywhere. It looks to me that AW is possibly being moved into Johnny Lightning. This new JL GTO says new casting on the package, but looks very, very much like the much older AW 1966 GTO. What do you guys think?

I have collected a couple hundred 1:64 in the past year or so, with the main focus being mostly on muscle/pony cars.  I always found the AW and Greenlight offerings to be better than JL and have relatively few JL as a result, but this GTO you mention is very close in quality it seems.  I hope AW remains as I have always been satisfied with their product.  I have the green GTO by AW that you show in your post and really like it.

JL's tend to be under-scaled, this NEW tooling is no exception, but it does look OK.  AW's are generally very nice expect for one major "problem."   They do NOT chrome anything except for rims.  Those silver-painted "chrome"  bumpers & trim drive me bananas!  😖 🙃 😲

@chris

I agree with you about the lack of plated bumpers. It detracts from the model’s appearance. Regarding other painted trim, plating this stuff may not be practical with this scale.

@ed-davis I agree Ed. Bumpers & grills are mainly what I was referring to.... however, "chroming appropriarely"  in 1/64 can be done.  😏 😏

@chris, those are great looking models, Chris. Who makes them? How much?

@jkuvakas    DCM  c.$35 -$45    They also make a "full function"  2-door.   Occasionally, sets for all 3 can be had for c.$100    I've got my eye out!   DCM also makes several other 1/64 RR non-opening models for less.
