I looked through my collection of 1/64 scale cars and found two Pontiac GTOs.
The greenish blue one is a 1966 GTO made by Racing Champions in 1998. It has nicely lettered tires, which might not show in the photos. Hood opens showing engine and shut lines are good. Bumpers and wheels are plated with paint used for remaining trim.
The burgundy one is a 1965 GTO made by ERTL. I did not see a year stamped on its chassis, but it was probably made about 20 years ago. This one has a detailed chassis. The tires have thin red walls, which might not show in the photos. Hood and trunk open with good shut lines. Bumpers, wheels, windshield trim, and rear window trim are plated. Paint is used for remaining trim.
I do not remember prices when purchased but were less than $10 each.

Great pics Ed! Both cars look terrific - especially with the Gulf station backdrop!
Have both, love both. The detail found in 1/64 scale models today is impressive.
Ed,
Those 1/64th GTO's are very well done, especially the burgundy one. Nice.
Models = Miracles in miniature = Holding History in ones hand
Cheers and Happy Collecting,
Steve
Ertl made several other 1/64 scale cars with similar level of detail at that time. The plated front and rear window trim always impressed me.

Those both look terrific and photograph really well ! The Gulf service station sure adds to the images, too. Of course, Pontiacs in any scale will definitely add to a picture.
...well, no sillier than this. 😀 😀
@kevins Great to see another herdsman out there. I'm sending you my wooden staff and rubber boots; if you have at least 66 goats you need them more than I do.
It is a Pontiac, so they are always great to see in any style !
@michaeldetorrice I’ve owned a ‘65 and a ‘70 in my hay day, hoping to get ahold of a ‘66 some day. Good to hear from fellow Poncho lovers!
Count me among the Poncho lovers too. First one was a brand new 1964 GTO. Silver blue. Also enjoyed owning a Grand Prix - 1963, but used. Bought it in 1966 with 9000 miles on it. Virtually brand new.@michaeldetorrice I’ve owned a ‘65 and a ‘70 in my hay day, hoping to get ahold of a ‘66 some day. Good to hear from fellow Poncho lovers!
@perrone1 Man oh man....that would have been a keeper for a Sunday drive......but of course no crystal ball. The '63 GP is on my list of best liked cars from all eras.
The Bonneville was gorgeous as well.
