In 1981, Corgi issued a special set Corgi Junior vehicles called BEST OF BRITAIN, which has been repeated in later years with different vehicles. I like this one best.
While I have this set, the images are not mine.
This set included a Rover 3500 Police Car.
An Austin Metro.
A London Bus.
A London Taxi.
A Ford Escort.
A Triumph TR7. (my favourite which I also have in bubble pack).
And finally, the Ford Capri.
Those are older than the two Corgi models I have. Sorry, but neither of mine is a 1/64 scale car. Both of mine were bought in the 1990's. One is a 1/50 scale (I think) jeep and the other a 1/72 scale F4U Corsair airplane. By the 1990's I found the Corgi models were nicely detailed.
David. I did not start collecting diecast models until the 1990's. My decision to start collecting them was based on two reasons. First, was my move 1/64 scale trains, since I needed cars and trucks for the train layout. The second reason was the growing number of very nice model planes in 1/48 and 1/72 scale. The Corgi Corsair was the first diecast plane I purchased.
