Delivering candy for Halloween is today's task on my 1/64 scale model train layout.  The blue tractor-trailer truck used to transport the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups is made by First Gear.  It has a Mack R type tractor and dump type trailer.  Obviously, the trailer had to be thoroughly cleaned from its normal activities before loading the candy.  The two railroad freight cars used for Milky Way and Kit Kat are brass models imported by River Raisin. Like most brass train models, they are made in South Korea.  The refrigerator car was factory painted and decaled.  I painted and decaled the flat car.

Have a nice Halloween.

Actually, it is a refrigerator car, although it would be hard to tell it is not a boxcar from the photo. As you noted round roof freight cars are not common.

it is a refrigerator car,

Right, I originally wrote that...but I'd played it safe...and went with "box car."  Round-roofs"  have a nice vintage look!

Ed, did you ever imagine that we would have the number of 1/64 scale vehicles to go with your S scale trains? Not only do we have the numbers but the details are outstanding. Love the pictures.

@bob-jackman

Back in the early 1990’s when I started collecting S scale trains, I also started looking for cars and trucks in 1/64 scale. There were limited offerings, and compared to now, they were not that good. However, by the late 1990’s and early 2000’s some really nice models became available. Today’s level of detail and range of offerings would have been unimaginable back in the early 1990’s.

It’s not just cars, but there are some really nice 1/72 scale military vehicles and airplanes in 1/72 and smaller scales. Lots of opportunities to spend our money.
