LESNEY/MATCHBOX- EARLY Models of Yesteryear.

Y-11-C was a 1938 Lagonda Drophead Coupe. This was issued in 1973. 1/43 scale, the brass wheeled version being discontinued in 1978.

A silver wheeled version in blue copper and gold was issued in 1979 and deleted in 1982.

This is my final entry in the EARLY Models of Yesteryear category. I will show later a final special anniversary wooden box with replicas of six early issues.

Matchbox Models of Yesteryear YY60 Connoisseurs Collection Limited Edition 

In 1984, Matchbox revived six of its earlier issues in a wooden case. This opened with a key. When opening, you found a plastic cover and six labelled models in unique colours in red velvet lined compartments. A certificate was included along with a money back guarantee by Matchbox (no longer valid as this company went bankrupt).

This is the final entry in this LESNEY/MATCHBOX- EARLY Models of Yesteryear theme.

In 1988, for Matchbox's 40 Anniversary, the six models in the Connoisseur Collection were reissued in the same colours, but with all the brass fittings gold plated. Here they are. These were sold separately in yellow boxes with foam packaging and an information card. I did not collect this series.

This was a great series.  I would not have guessed there were so many very nice models.  Someday, I hope to see some of them.  Thanks for sharing them, and thanks for taking such good care of all these models in past years.
