The Country Garage Diorama is part of a street scene made with Skaledale OO gauge resin buildings. I found these to work with 1:64th scale vehicles. The Country Garage is number R9650 in Hornby’s Skaledale range. Overall the diorama is complete but this section is a work in progress as I may detail the interior of the garage and currently I am searching for garage equipment.

The model car in the image is a MiniGT #151 Land-Rover Defender 1985 County Station Wagon Grey RHD and is 1:64th scale. The model is impressive and personally detail wise I find this particular MiniGT equal to Tomica’s Limited Vintage Neo range.

I set this diorama up in an outdoor location to take advantage of natural light.

I like both the vehicle and structure. They make a nice diorama.

That looks excellent, Chris ! The placement and lighting takes full advantage of the situation and really shows off  the Land Rover replica. One marvels at both the neat model vehicle and it's diorama setting.

Does anyone know of a US source for Scaledale structures?

@ed-davis Hi Ed The USA Hornby site website is:

https://www.hornbyhobbies.com/?langSelect=true

They may be able to assist.

Please note that all Skaledale buildings are of British outline.

Still in the same garage scene now the model car in the image is now a Tomica Limited Vintage LV-188a Toyota Stout Wrecker and is 1:64th scale. An excellent model which features a metal wrecker crane section and includes a towing dolly.

In the UK Tomica's Limited Vintage and Limited Vintage Neo ranges are only available via eBay and are expensive.

In real life the Toyota Stout was never exported to Europe or the UK but as Tomica's true to 1:64th scale tow vehicle was the only one I have available it found its way into this British outline diorama.

BTW these images, and the L-R's, were taken in an outdoor location and I placed the layout on a picnic table to get a 'normal' perspective. I would have stayed longer but it looked like rain would arrive any minute so packed up sharpest.

@chris-sweetman If that Toyota had some dirt on it (scale weathering ) I bet you could fool people with these pics. Maybe not as dirty as this 1/64, but you get the idea...  Those building look great!

That is a fine set-up using the Tomica Toyota 1/64  vehicle, Chris. It fit extremely well in the scene and the use of the scale model buildings, the model automobiles and the arrangement of the real backgrounds reminds me of the late Paul Michael Smith and his superb use and blending of the model cars and buildings/dioramas with an actual background, carefully placed.

I like the way your dio came out.  The natural light makes it look authentic.

@ed-davis Many thanks Ed - for this shot I tried a theme of a L-R County outside the Country Garage.

@chris That weathered L-R looks good but unless I find a scrapper TLV Toyota, highly unlikely given the price, this one will have to stay in its 'just washed look'! Appreciate your comments about the buildings especially from an ace modeller like yourself.
