Near-perfect examples of a small group of dedicated and budding thespians sacrificing their reputations to portray working-class people mired in mediocrity and banality. I say they were a smashing success, their noble efforts under-appreciated by the Academy.

"mired in mediocrity and banality"..

.....and yet we have Joe,possessing such a cocksure attitude about having sufficient floorspace for that as yet undefined Charleston Depot load

.....................................   " we always knew Joe was meant for bigger things,a bright future".............................................

Great innovation for the time but this film presentation is certainly hammy and pedantic. Probably typical for company film presentations back then. Reminds me of some of the military education films that I had to sit through in the late 1950s and 60s.

Well, you got me! I knew mobile phones (car phones) existed in the 1950's but NEVER knew they were around in the 1940's.  Considering that in just 17 years, this film will be 100 years old, makes it all the more amazing.

....I honestly can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but I'd argue that "no actors were harmed during the filming is that production." 😏

1) as near as I`m able to recall David...."hammy and pedantic" was the number five breakfast special at Perkins just last Easter

2) "hammy and pedantic"?.......wasn`t that the comedy duo that used to open for Abbot and Costello at the Eltinge Burlesque Theater?

I think John made up the part about the Lesbians.....but the rest of it sounds pretty straightforward
