I have always loved the '66 Toronado for it great looks, inside and outside.

But I have never seen one in the flesh here in The Netherlands.

Who owned one ?

If I am not mistaken, I think the Tornado was the first GM front wheel drive production car.

1st FWD from GM would be correct ,though the 1st FWD car was I believe a Cord L29

10-year-old Paul wanted his dad to buy one. Apparently he didn't get the message.

I considered buying one in the late 1960's, but with a growing family, I decided it was just too expensive not to have a decent back seat.

I had a 1970 that looked just like this. It was an amazing highway cruiser.

What a timely topic!  I recently came across this picture I cut out of the Los Angeles Herald Examiner newspaper in 1965 when I was 10 years old.  Apparently as a kid I saved everything. lol  It's yellowed and is a bit brittle but I was able to snap a pic of it.  "Artists made the above sketch of the car which Oldsmobile has named Toronado".

I think Phil Realmuto had/has one. I haven't seen him around these new forums as often as he was on the old one. Miss you, Phil!
