Can you imagine telling someone (anyone! ) at the dealership that 35 years later some new Chevrolet pick-up trucks will sticker for more than $100,000.00?  The service guys would've strapped you down, called the padded ambulance, and watched as you were hauled away. 🙄 😬 🙄

Interesting. I love looking at these older ads. But of course, it's all relative. I first got into selling cars in 1985. I remember my first day, wandering the inventory of the Chrysler Plymouth dealership I was just getting started at and seeing a LeBaron convertible stickered at about $12,000 and thinking, "Who pays this kind of money for a car?" We sold a ton of them. The Chrysler LeBaron sedans and Plymouth Reliants were more reasonable at about $8k-9k. But they were still out of reach back then. I had to choose my personal cars from the used lot.

Isn't that something! What certain cars go for today, could have bought houses back in my time. My first house was a brand new 3 bed, 2 bath home with a price I will never forget, $17,290. It was 1969. I doubt that would get any NEW car today.

Yep, 35 years from now, $100,000 might seem like a bargain!  Seems like only yesterday when I thought, "Even if my wife & I buy new cars every 7-8 years surely our combined payments could never exceed $650 a month."

HA! 😬 😬

And who would figure that many of the pickup trucks do not haul any cargo. Oh so many sweet little housewives use the pickups to go food shopping and place their grocery bags on the back seat.
