What a beauty! I was aware of the '57 T-Birds with a supercharger, but had no idea that the blower was offered across the board on all cars. Now I wonder how many of these sleepers actually exist.
This one hauled ass in no uncertain terms. It must have equaled or beat the T-bird time - 6.2 second 0 - 60 mph and a 14.7 second quarter mile with a top speed of 137 MPH.
I wonder if any cars were capable of being ordered with the NASCAR tuned 340 HP engine (same "F" code) as the stock blown engine.
A friend recently sold his Ford dealership along with his 1/1 car collection. In his collection of 25 cars was a 57 F bird and a supercharged 57 retractable along with a 2005 and 2019 GT.
Would like to hear this one run. As I recall, the 312 blower motor exhaust note had a bit of a flutter to it. Most unusual, but the basic two door sedan, so equipped, beat my 283, 270 horsepower '57 Chevrolet Sedan delivery, until I changed from a close ratio 3 speed stick to a GM hydro transmission. Picked up nearly a second in elapsed time and the car launched much more predictably. That '57 Ford sedan was fast.
