A fiery horse with the speed light and a hearty Hi-Yo Silver...The Lone Ranger!
With his faithful Indian companion Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains led the fight for law and order in the early Western United States. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear...The Lone Ranger rides again
EIGHTY YEARS AGO TODAY!
The Lone Ranger burst on the American scene in books, serials, radio, television, and movies. As a kid growing up in the late 1950's and 60's, this show was part of my childhood. Clayton Moore will always be "the only" Lone Ranger in my opinion. He portrayed the character with passion and dignity.
My book library includes Clayton Moore's great bio, "I Was That Masked Man", and also the "Pictorial History of The Lone Ranger", and another book, "Who Was That Masked Man, the story of The Lone Ranger". I also have the vintage radio tapes of his many adventures that starred Brace Beemer in the role. Added to the many taped TV episodes and the two late 50's movies "The Lone Ranger" and "The Lone Ranger and the Lost City of Gold".

@chris, that was hilarious. Thanks for sharing. Reminded me that I miss Letterman too. I've not watched a single episode of any late night talk show since both Letterman and Leno left their shows. And Johnny Carson before Leno, was "must watch TV".

I remember the day I heard Clayton Moore had passed away. It was sad news feeling like a part of my childhood had been taken from me. One of the reasons I then wanted to obtain information and learn about him. His book I alluded to above, "I Was That Masked Man", is an incredible read. Going through my Lone Ranger file, I found his death announcement in our paper. Â
