Jim Unger was hilarious. My kids used to buy me the latest Herman compilation each Christmas. I was so sad when he passed away.

I seem to recall that Jim Unger was once a policeman in London. Not sure for how long, but that kind of character and situationally rich environment could be where he got his jaded, humorous "Hermanesque" perspective on people.
