A small misunderstanding

In the end, it WAS all a small misunderstanding.

Having spent the greater part of the day ingesting a truly remarkable variety of alcohol-based celebratory beverages, the good lady had carelessly dropped a lit cigar butt on the pile of paper and styrofoam packing in which her anniversary gift had been wrapped. When the resulting blaze looked like it might get out of control, she had the great presence of mind to lock the model room door to keep the flames safely away from the precious collection (believing me to be upstairs, safely asleep on the toilet). Concerned neighbours then appeared with a powerful garden hose and the problem was quickly brought under control. Oh, how we laughed when it was all over.

In response to the comments above, I could indeed be described as a high-level cook, in a sense, as I do have a cooker with a high-level grill.

I regularly use it to make toast, which I have to admit is my sole culinary skill. The rest of the cooking is done by you-can-guess-who, which explains my gaunt, undernourished appearance and my compulsive consumption of garden weeds, foliage and insects to compensate for vitamin deficiencies.

By the way, it is a gas cooker so it doesn't actually have "elements", about which I know very little.

I can relate - I eat, I don't cook.    However, for some inexplicable reason.....  I really enjoy cooking dinners for my wife.    Happy 45th anniversary Graeme, that is quite an achievement and tell your wife to be more careful with her "lit butts."     😆 😉
