Great article at History Facts. I'm betting all of us have been on at least one of these highways. How many have you traveled? Which ones?

A really interesting article, John ! It has a number of facts about our unsurpassed interstate defense highway system.
Yes, an interesting article, once you beat down all the pop-ups. 😬 😀 😆Â

I've been to, and driven in, all 50 states. Between the time I was discharged from the Army, to driving for 45 years in my profession (with 3 industry employers) to attending conference meetings scheduled by companies that held these meetings in alternating cities over the years, I've traversed the country a lot. When I got out of the Army, at The Presidio of San Francisco in 1968, I drove across country to Philadelphia, purposely criss-crossing as many states as I could. I took in excess of two weeks to get there.Â
My job saw multiple moves to multiple states and each territory held different states in which I made calls.Â
Beside winning trips to Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Lichtenstein, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Communist Russia, where I did precious little driving, I also won trips to Alaska and Hawaii. So I was able to say that I drove in all of our states.
Driving through some more sparsely populated western states, like Wyoming and Montana, was a pleasure. Although driving through the two states that are contiguous to 8 other sates (Tennessee & Missouri) the drive can be miserable due to the interstate over-abundance of 18 wheelers.
