We are on our third SUV and wouldn't trade it for a sedan for all of the reasons stated above. What I am talking about is over correcting. The Toyota plant in Mississippi makes nothing but sedans as fast as they can. Another case of over correcting is the rush to EVs which has put Ford in a world of financial hurt. I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'm simply saying that the people calling the shots have never been on the streets talking to people and seeing what really goes on with a fairly sizable part of the population. I fully understand the importance of the SUVs but some companies seem to think there's also business to be had beyond SUVs.
I can't speak for others, but no auto manufacturer has ever asked me what I'd like to drive. If they did, it sure wouldn't be the junk that is offered today. I'm not sure who the heck the auto companies are targeting, because it sure can't be the younger kids or us older folks.
All of this mini-van and SUV crap started when Leo Iococca convinced the American public 1984 that you had to have a mini-van. I said baloney then, and I say baloney still today. Looking forward to buy a new car used to be fun. We had choices, colors, different styles and makes. Today, everything looks the same and all in the same bland colors. They are not fun to drive either.
I'm glad I had the chance to live in an America that made wanting and owning a car fun.
