hear hear!Love the pictures Mike. Thanks for sharing your memories with us.
I have fond memories too of the armfuls of brochures collected from the Melbourne Auto Show, early 60s onwards for a few years. Wish I still had them!
Sad but SO true Chris. I wasn't taken often to the BIG car shows; my first was a major show in 1957 when I was 10 and completely immersed in the love of all things 'automobile'. And like a lot of other Boomers, had my nose pressed against the dealership glass waiting for the new cars to be unveiled each September.Yep, all great memories of a truly bygone era. Social media & the internet have basically destroyed all the glamour & mystique that once was, not to mention that Gen-X-ers, Millennials, and Gen Z folks don't really "see" cars in the same ways the Silent Generation & Baby Boomers do. 😔 😔
Our grandkids think of cars as transportation and cup holders ONLY! Oh, the humanity - LOL!
@perrone1 I agree guys. I will always treasure those yearly visits to the various car dealerships in late September to view the exciting new designs! Of all those trips the one car that sticks in my mind the most is my first viewing of the stunning 1963 Corvette....OMG!
OMG +1! Especially the split window coupe!@perrone1 I agree guys. I will always treasure those yearly visits to the various car dealerships in late September to view the exciting new designs! I was 16 in 1963, so that was 61 years ago. A little difficult to remember for certain, but I think that when I first laid eyes on those Corvettes, I may have soiled me britches!!
