Or did you buy something else ?
And why ?
I expect this to bring many replies, right ?
Not as straightforward as you may think. My answer is yes, and no.
In terms of what I bought in the 1960's I was a "Big Two + guy". I'll try to explain. In the '60's I had mostly GM and Ford products. My cars were Chevy, Pontiac and Olds; heavier on the Bowtie - Chevrolet. And when I owned them, I was a GM man. On the Ford side I had Ford products and Mercury products and was a Blue Oval Ford-o-phile. When I owned a combination of both, I was whatever I was driving at the time. The half? I also owned English and Italian cars in the '60's and loved them.
And while I didn't own Chrysler products, I loved them as well. Why I didn't buy them in the '60's; who knows - just never presented itself.
'50's I was a Ford man with a few Dodges thrown in. In the early '60's I was all Ford. In the late '60's I was all Dodge. Never really cared for GM products. In my old age I like them all, [American only] FoMoCo, CC, GMC, AMC. In the '70's, & '90's I bought Ford ('74 & '77) & Dodge ('95 & '96) pick-ups or in the '80's Yamaha motorcycles. How ever in retirement I buy Japanese, Toyota or Subaru.
...well, I didn't start driving (legally ) until the 1980's but I've always owned cars & convertibles from the "Big 3" & Packard. I've had several of each, but I have never owned an Oldsmobile, Imperial, or anything foreign - I have the repair receipts to prove it! 😣 😔 😫
In the sixties I owned a 56 Ford Victoria, two 56 Austin Healeys, a 63 Corvair Spyder convertible, a 63 VW type 3, a 66 Buick Skylark GS 400 hardtop, a 69 Buick GS 400 hardtop and a 66 Plymouth Fury III station wagon. Today I still own an example from each of the big three, a 61 Corvette, a 63 Thunderbird Sports Roadster and a 1955 Imperial and a 2001 Crown Victoria.
....a 1968 Dodge Coronet 4-dr sedan with a 440 & a 4-speed? How many were built like that? "Not many" I'm guess'n! 🙄 😬

1968 black ex-police car 318 with three on the tree [engine blown], I converted to the drive train out of my 10 month old totaled '69 Coronet R/T. The car had 12?,??? miles on it with the drive train having 36,??? miles, fun car to say the least. The Interior of the totaled R/T went into the '66 Coronet 440 six cylinder.

Yeah, I kind of suspected as much; I figured a bit of "cobbling" had occurred. 😀
in the '60's I owned 3 cars. A '55 Chevrolet 210, 2dr post in '62, a '59 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible in '63 and a '65 Chevrolet SS Impala Sport Coupe in '65. I did lust over many cars from the big 3 including Jaguar, VW, Saab, Triumph, and others but I never had the opportunity to own.
