Forget it! Gentle massage and light manipulation for me.
Jack, I love your reply.
OMG! I feel sorry for that poor woman.
About 3 months ago my neck starting cracking - serious cracking. It was aggravating. No pain, just cracking. And it worried me.
So I talked to my doctor about going to a chiropractor. He refused the referral because he has seen patients with that particular sort of malady have a stroke because of the manipulation they are put through.
I did go to a chiropractor once and, speaking of cracking, I was cracked in places where I didn't know there were places.
Anyhow, my neck is slowly returnng to its silent normal condition.

Frank, good for your doctor. Several years ago, I had a 25-year-old woman with stroke from vertebral artery dissection after chiropractor neck manipulation.
Interesting and rather frightening comments. I went to the same chiropractor from age 27 to 63 and only stopped because he retired. My injury from a car accident at age 15 caused an ongoing disc issue which required periodic maintenance to keep life normal. IMO the man was a god send. His replacement was a young guy who, on my second visit, popped a rib. He was the exact opposite of his predecessor. My attitude about chiropractors now is that there are good and bad ones, so I changed to physiotherapy, which is far gentler.
