I thought it would be fun to ask everyone here about the first diecast car they ever owned.
For some collectors, it might have been a small Matchbox or Hot Wheels car they received as a child. For others, it could have been a detailed model of a favourite classic or sports car.
Do you still have your first model, or has it disappeared over the years?
I'm also curious whether your first diecast car influenced the types of vehicles you collect today. Maybe it sparked an interest in classic American muscle cars, European sports cars, trucks, or vintage vehicles.
Share the model, brand, scale, or even a photo if you remember it. I'd love to hear your stories!
The first diecast car I remember owning was a Dinky Toy 1949 Ford 4 door army staff car. This, some other Dinky Toys, and some plastic armor and airplane kits led to a life of model building and collecting. I no longer have any Dinky Toys.

A van of some sort from the 50s, totally bastardized with red paint and no tires. I still have it what must be 65 years later.
First serious white metal was Brooklin's gold Tucker in 1993. Still have this too.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
Great old nostalgic photo Galen. With the spare, heads looks in different directions, no wheel, wondering about the car and where they are, it makes for a terrific conversation subject.

1) Great old photo Galen. 👍 👍
2) I have no idea what my first diecast car was - undoubtedly some Matchbox or Hot Wheels my parents bought me. However, I remember the first diecast car I purchased:
It was a pink/red Hot Wheels 1968 "red-line" Cadillac Eldorado. However, I wanted a black Cadillac, so I painted it, but being 4-6 I didn't know the difference between "flat vs. gloss." My Mother explained I should've chosen "gloss."
I didn't know how to paint either and remember being frustrated because the car would NOT fit into the jar of paint - so I poured the black paint over the entire car. I have NO memory of that Eldo after that.
I assume my parents threw it out. Today, this pink/red Cadillac, in near condition, would be about a $300 car. 🙄 🙄 😖
I’m pretty sure it was a Lesney / Matchbox 4dr Cadillac Sedan in silver-gray with gray tires. This had to be in 1959 or 60.
