Lol,
Huntington Beach Police stopped me for doing 100+ on Pacific Coast Highway @ about 3AM.
Lucky for me that the officer was so enamored of my '70 Trans-Am that I just got a warning.
So, so very lucky that time !

On a limited access divided rural highway with no traffic at 6:00 AM in '69 in my new Dodge Coronet R/T for about 30 miles I opened it up.  Got up to 139 mph, all it would do on the 150 speed-0, had 3:55 gears.  Came around a corner and about a 3 mile down hill with a car half way down the hill, by the time I realized it was a state cop I was able to slow down to about 100 mph as I went buy him.  He pulled me over and after the usual license & reg he walked around the car giving it the once over he said " I have one question, how fast were you going in this hot rod?" I of course stated I had no idea as I was watching the road not a speedometer. he persisted by saying he was doing 75 mph and he looked in his mirror and there was no one behind him for a mile back up the hill and a split second later I went by him.  He admitted he could/didn't clock me and he had to be stationary for the radar they used back then and he would not write me up but, how fast was I going?? I answered I don't actually know [car speed-o's were not accurate, so I was not lying], a new car and a long straight I just wanted to see how well it did, in the vicinity of 140 mph. He gave me a warning and a lecture.
