Love the background story and the birthday present to yourself. It is a beautiful car!

I absolutely relate to your frustration. I have seen many cars parked in the streets but when you look at the houses, they have a garage. That is why it frustrates me that these people do not use their garage to park their cars. Isn't that the main use of a garage? So why not use it right? Why 'cause an inconvenience towards others when you have the choice to not do so? I swear some people are just too selfish and only think about themselves. It's like playing slot games but you're always losing.
My irritation is with my neighbor who is telling all who will listen that his cars got hail damage from the storm last week. But both of his cars were parked in his driveway during the storm, as they always are. He has lived in the house three years and NEVER put either car in his double garage. Sorry, but there is no explanation for it. And if I were his insurance company, I'd decline to pay his hail damage claim, due to his not taking the precautions he could have to prevent it. It's one thing if you're out on the road driving or in a parking lot, and your car gets hailed on. You have no way to prevent that. But when your cars are parked in your driveway and never put in their garage for shelter, the insurance shouldn't have to pay.

Chevy is a '69 Caprice Custom Coupe which I acquired from my parents. Wish I had kept that. The MBZ is a '73 280, my dad's car, which I had absolutely no use for, although I must say, it was brilliantly engineered. They tended to keep cars a long time. At the time (1990) their new car was in the garage, a 1985 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Brougham.
