For those of you that may read "COLLECTIBLE AUTOMOBILE" magazine, the current February 2023 (Vol. 39 No. 5) issue printed a letter I wrote to editor John Biel.

Unrelated to what I wrote in my letter, I'd like to suggest that if you don't subscribe to "COLLECTIBLE AUTOMOBILE", you are missing out on, what I've always considered to be the premiere and factual automotive magazine in print.

If you are an avid reader, than you know I speak the truth.  I proudly have EVERY issue published since the magazine debuted back in March 1983.  You already love cars, so I know you'll love "COLLECTIBLE AUTOMOBILE" too.  And here is a real perk, THERE IS NOT A SPECK OF ADVERTISING in any issue published!

Couldn't agree more, George, it is THE best car magazine out there! Haven't received the issue yet but I look forward reading your letter.

Not the first time you've had a letter published in that magazine, if I remember correctly...congrats!

Thanks!  You are correct, letters I've written to Mr. Biel have been published in some other issues over the years too.  Being a charter subscriber, I always wonder how many other "Collectible Automobile" readers can say that.  I hope many of course!

My "Collectible Automobile" story.  In February 1983 I was visiting Shinder's magazine store in downtown St. Paul (LOL, back then it was still safe to go downtown and not wondering if I'd have to risk taking a stray bullet), going through the magazines on the rack as I usually did.  Doing so, I remember thinking, it would be really nice if someone would publish a car mag completely devoted to "old cars".  And then, honest, as if a Genie heard my mental comment/thought, suddenly there it was, the "premiere issue" of "Collectible Automobile"!

I picked it up and was so impressed with the quality of it.  A slick glossy cover, all color photos inside, and covering "old cars", that all could be "collectible".  When I got home, I took out the subscription card, made out my check, and sent it off.  I've not missed an issue since!

As 2023 rounds the corner in a month and a half, it will be 40 years of publication and EVERY ISSUE is mine.  It was when it was first published, and remains so today, the BEST collectible automobile magazine printed.  PERIOD!

CLASSIC CARS has always been my go to magazine, I actually came up with a plan to keep them from piling up over the years of my subscription by passing them on to my favorite brother in-law lol.

great articles ….fantastic color layouts on the greatest cars of past years.

Without question, the best "car magazine" around. I was an avid reader for years (and saved every issue). I enjoyed their fine photography work and "behind-the-scenes" info.  I hate to admit this, but I didn't realize they were still in print. 😔 😔 😕

@larry-kemling    I'm with Larry on Hemmings CLASSIC CAR.  This is not a comparison, just an old habit that I'm not about to change.  For years I would periodically gather up my older copies and take them out to the local retirement center.  I was told they were VERY popular.  Then, during the Covid panic, they stopped accepting any such "intrusions."  Shame.  I also enjoy COLLECTIBLE AUTOMOBILE now and then.

I too, used to enjoy Collector Car magazine.  But then they cut the size of the magazine from 108 pages an issue to 72 pages.  If that wasn't enough, they let long term editor Richard Lentinello go.  Then I'd notice certain regular features were not regular anymore.  Finally when the last subscription renewal came due (a years ago), I passed on it.  Then I passed my collection of them to our local library.
