I collect primarily 1:24 scale, roughly 300, with a smattering of other scales

@bob-jackman, of all those who collect here and share their counts, you my friend will always be (in my opinion) as close to the elite model car collector that I'm aware of.

We've discussed several times over the years about what constitutes a "small, medium, and large" collection, and though the answer can be construed depending on individuals perceptions, at 6,000 plus cars, you certainly have a LARGE collection.

I realize that none of this is a contest, as we are all lovers of these old cars, but having the number you do is just an amazing collection.

One time not to long ago, there was a poster (on the old site) that stated he had a "Large collection of 12 cars".  That certainly started the "small, medium, and large" conversation going again.  In response to the "12 cars" comment another poster stated, "Twelve isn't a large collection of anything, unless it's kids".  I still chuckle when I think of that response.

Smile

But certainly the size of any collection is in the eyes of the beholders.  I have 347 cars that take up an entire wall from ceiling to floor in my car room, and anyone that sees it is in awe.  But certainly if they were to see your collection Bob, than mine is extremely small in comparison.

I'm just grateful that regardless of the size of any of our collections, we all have this passion to share them and our memories.  We are blessed to have this site.

I also have a variety of models/scales.

1/43 - 31 models mostly white models.  This is the newest scale for me starting around 2013.

1/64 - About 75 cars and trucks (80% cars), which I use with my 1/64 scale model trains

1/24 - One model, which was a gift

1/18 - Two models, which are models of 1:1 scale cars I have owned, one of which I still own

In addition to cars and trucks, I have several diecast airplanes in 1/48 and 1/72 scale.

I have a great number of 1/43  and 1/64 scale model cars.  I have about a dozen of 1/24 scale models.   Space to display or store them all is an issue for me, so I cannot imagine I'd ever consider collecting 1/18.
