I bought a new 1970 Nova 350. I ordered it in late '69. Raised letter tires, 350 V8, 3:96 rear axle and a four speed. Thinking back on it I had almost forgotten the GM siblings that they built as well with letters initiating the NOVA group.
N for Chevrolet Nova. O for Oldsmobile Omega. V for Ventura by Pontiac and the A stood for Buick's Apollo.
My Nova:
Olds Omega:
Pontiac Ventura:
Buick Apollo:
I remember them.

The Nova styling was the only one that I found attractive; the rest always struck me a basic utility transportation for some reason.
I remember those cars.

@jack-dodds I agree Jack. The others always made me think of being wanna bes.
For sure Bob. I guess the best way to describe their styling is "unremarkable." Maybe part of why the Nova stands out for me, besides its better looks, is that it had a long history and developed into a more sporty car starting in '65 with the intro of the various V-8 engines and 4-speed tranny. I recall being very impressed by the '65 Nova SS with the 327, 4bbl. and 4 speed and the '66-'67 was even better!

OMG-yes! Those earlier Nova's and Chevy II's were killer!
@perrone1 They really were killer Tony; even the sleepers. One older guy I knew, who was a legitimate racer, bought a new '66 Nova plain Jane 2dr. post, dog dish caps, in light metallic blue, with the '327, 4-speed which he built up into a powerhouse. One sunny day I was walking along a quiet straight stretch when I saw him approaching. Lucky for this 14 year old he decided to stop a hundred or so yards away and see what it would do. He lit it up and wound it out through the gears, blowing by me with a roar that was amazing. It was one of those car moments that is etched into my mind like it was yesterday.
Similar car...in red (this is a '67).
@jack-dodds Those are the kind of memories that keep we mature auto gents alive & kicking.

Definitely!
Of all the cars we had... I can't recall any being Novas. I've come to really appreciate the 1960's & early '70's models.
I liked the SS 350 Nova, Tony. It had a great combination of power and handling.
Remember this 1974 version?

@jkuvakas It was probably a decent and fun car to have but I always disliked it; simply because in my mind it didn't measure up visually to the GTOs of earlier years.
My ‘76 runs great with the 4 barrel carb 350 with posi rear and F41 suspension. I’ve had it 20 years now.
