is it really worth the shame and ridicule of wearing a suit to the drive in? 🤐

Through my several years experience at the drive in theater, not once did I ever wear a suit and tie.

If I ever dared to take any date to the drive-in dressed in a suit she would never accept a second date offer.  This guy is a Loser anyways as there's no way he's gonna score with the convertible top down.  My advice to him is lose those togs if you hope to snog.

This ad has a major cred issue anyways....no drive-in has a chef on staff to make popcorn, hot dogs and fries and certainly not one who would escort you to your wheels. Gimme a break already!

Judging from the cars in the commercial, it appears to be late 40's.  Hollywood's movies of that era almost always depicted men in suits and women in long dresses. This ad forgot that all men wore hats too. Even in the 50's we saw somewhat the same. On TV - Leave it to Beaver. Remember how June Cleaver did her housework in a fine dress and high heels. Ward came home but kept his tie and, sometimes, his jacket on as well. Hollywood's make-believe reality at work.

As a kid I recall drive-ins a lot and to this day, we have one here in town. Both - back then and now, they have a grill. You can go up to it and order burgers, hot dogs, fries and drinks but no one wore chef's clothes and they don't serve you at the car. More Hollywood hooie!

Thanks for posting this oldie JayBee!

This info is no doubt quite true for most................ but not for Paladin!

Good stuff. (There was a small, almost indistinguishable, caveat: Does not apply to Paladin)
