Pretty cool accessory, John ! I think I saw an article that had some information about this feature on that Ford automobile quite a while back.

Yep, I have the same article in a book covering 1960 cars.  It's a cool accessory - that really gave a nice, sporty look to '62 'verts but honestly, I'm not convinced consumers would've been as receptive.

In the fifties and early sixties there were several attempts at creating lift off tops for convertibles. One of the more successful was the Carson Top primarily aimed at customized show cars.
