Fastest 1/4 mile in history?

Incredible run. I knew about rocket dragsters but not about this 'Vanishing Point' car and driver. I note this is a quarter mile. I think NHRA restricts rocket cars to 1000 feet.

You have to wonder how difficult it is to stay awake and remain alert during the run. I mean, the driver still has to pilot the car and in that incredibly brief time has no room for even the slightest error while enduring indescribable g-forces. 

In my book jet powered does not count. Not sure what's currently accepted by the NHRA.
