We have just finished our Salmon Spectacular here on Georgian Bay in Ontario. 3500 fishermen and women signed up this year, for the 10 day event despite Covid
A 24.29 lb. Salmon caught on Day 2 of the 2021 Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular held on to take top prize. The Trout Division was won with a 22.20 lb. Lake Trout caught on the 2nd last day of the derby, with top Rainbow Trout at 14.72 lb. and Brown Trout at 8.88 lb. Great results.
I feel the same way about fishing. Grew up living next to a river, live next to a river now, but don't fish.
I live on a 33,000 acre lake and don't fish but I love to eat them.
I don't fish either but we have a huge tent Salmon and Trout feast each year at the 'Spectacular' and I end up freezing friend's donations to last much of the year.
Last time I fished was on the ice in Georgian Bay near Wiarton, Ontario in February. Ice we cut through was 18 inches thick. Froze but caught a nice Lake Trout. That was 25 years ago.
I love to fish, but rarely get the chance to do so.
But, I'm more of a worm-drowner than a real fisherman (although I do enjoy catching a fighter).
Fishing gives me time to think about and do absolutely nothing.
