Just for fun, here's a video I just came across showing the Corgi factory at work back in 1960. Watch a Corgi model (a Fiat 1500) being built with loving care in a high-tech environment.

Great video and very revealing. "Loving care," you say!

Mike, I'm glad you are happy with this model you got from your dad - but it isn't a Corgi. The car is a Fiat 128, which Corgi never did, and your model was actually made by Mercury in Turin, Italy.
If it is in good condition and you still have the box it could be worth $150 - $200, which should make you even happier (although I'm sure you would never sell it.)

The repetition of these factory jobs must have been quite challenging; I'm not sure I could have done it. Interesting to see the dresses and dress shirts/ ties worn by these workers.
Thank-you Graeme for unearthing and sharing this gem. It speaks to so much more than simply the production of die-cast model cars.
I think they just saw it as another day's work........
