Diecast Collector Forums
Eight forums, every scale, and thirty years of shop talk — new arrivals, restorations, reviews, and the finds you won’t see posted anywhere else, with the full archive back to 2002 restored and searchable. Free to Register.
Over 1.2 million posts and replies have been added back to the forums from the original site to their respective Forums. All are searchable.
The Forums main page look is new. Colored and rounded icons added. Stats will be updated when this project is complete. Still running some checks.
These posts go back 24 years, when there was an update implemented to the old forums. There is no data older than that. Images from 20 plus years ago that were hosted by Photobucket and Snapfish do not appear, because those hosting sites are long gone, but the Flickr-hosted ones should still be there.
To resurrect an old post, simply cut and paste the text into a new post, or just post the link to the old post, and then chat about it. The old posts are for your research and tagged as “closed". So, you can not reply to one there (they are closed because it would open up a million plus pages for spammers and bots to spam on) New spam and bot protection features were added today also.
Also please note that il mio paesano Tony Perrone will be the heavy and will come down hard on any stubborn folks that say they can’t search for something, or that it should have been done like this or like that instead. 😀

Wonderful!!
And I love this: "New spam and bot protection features were added today also." What a treasury - THANKS Kevin!
In the words of my people: "MAZEL TOV!" 😀 😊 😀 😊 😀
...yep, it works! I just found a post from 16 years ago! THANK YOU!! 😀 😀 😀
Hmmm...so I found a post of mine from 2013 https://diecast.org/community/1_43/pics-do-you-want-to-know-a-secret-i-want-to-tell-you/#post-2102941 I was happy to find it existed because stupid me at the time didn't save my own photos. But the post says that the photos are no longer available. IIRC, Dick Browne said sometime after that these photos were hosted on Photobucket, but that doesn't jibe with your timeline. Thoughts?
@paul-rouffa I wish all the images were saved somewhere, but they weren't. All of the images were saved in the car lists and reviews, but not in the forums. Mainly because the old forums used hosting platforms. I used the term "20 years ago" to mean "old". As to say, sorry, but these old defunct hosting platforms do not have images anymore, because they don't exist anymore. Not to create any exact cut off timeline.
Thanks for the clarification, Kevin. Bummer, I was hoping to recover them, I had done a nice job with them.
A few stats from older posts:
- 901,591 posts (87.4%) were always pure text and are perfectly intact
- 130,060 posts (12.6%) had images
- 59,131 posts (5.7%) referenced now defunct Photobucket hosted images — those are gone
- Flickr-era posts, 2013 onward, still show their photos, as that Buick Caballero thread does. Maybe the images from the post Paul mentioned was early in 2013 and not late in 2013. Or, maybe there was a combination of Fickr, Photobucket, etc on some threads. Like this one from John Merritt 10 years ago. It has the images, but one reply does not: https://diecast.org/community/1_43/pics-daily-dose-of-diecast-friday-14/
Right you are, Kevin, the post was from January 26, 2013.Maybe the images from the post Paul mentioned was early in 2013 and not late in 2013.
No matter what, kudos to you for recovering what you did, in addition to the terrific newsletter you've been sending out.
WOW! That's amazing. It's kind of cool to see the old photos - although they are still posted on my Flickr site. Thanks Kevin.
