@perrone1 +1. In the fifties and sixties I spent many hours in junk yards looking for parts for cars I was restoring. Wonderful memories looking back.

Yes sir! I did so in the '60's for sure. Some of the best car junk was some of my favorite treasures!

Tony, I'm sure you recall the junk yards as a source for parts for keeping our cars running. And some of the crew built a "Stude-a-llac." Another creation was a '52 Ford Victoria powered by a Buick V8 and a LaSalle tranny...all with parts sourced from junk yards. The good old days...long before crate engines and after-market rolling chassis.

We did it in the late '70's, early '80's.

Been to a junk yard lately?    It's like going to the theater!  😉 😀

Super clean & modern office operations, computerized inventory control & part location.  Vehicles indexed for maximum availability, lined up uniformly with assembly line precision.  Landscaped surroundings with well-lite signage and pleasant walkways to follow.  It's simply surreal!

When we used to go, you'd take "supplies & a survival kit,"  because you knew  you may never make it out alive!  😬 😬

Christopher, this sounds too much like Disney World, I'll pass.

Yeppers! My biggest foray/need into junk yards was my first car, a 1930 Model A cabriolet. I yanked a 52 merc, with 3 friends, out of a wrecked Merc, took it home and bokted it down in that Ford. Then back and forth for weeks for assorted parts to finish he job.

I'd rather spend a day at a Pick A Part than at d'land here in SoCal 👍 Every 6 weeks or so there's the big car swap at the Pomona Fairgrounds. Just about ANYTHING can be found there. "Come to buy, come to sell or just come to look..."

I'm sure Marty's been there. I think he lives pretty close. I'm in Anaheim / Garden Grove so I'm not too far either.
