When I was a kid in the fifties, I certainly didn't realize the multitude of car brands that were out there. What I did know was that some were more recognizable than others to me. And many of them were HUDSON'S. My Dad always talked about how good Hudson's were, but again being a kid, I had no concept of why one car might be better than any other car. They were just cars to me. I did learn quickly though, that I liked the way some cars looked. I'd like their taillights or their roof-lines, and I remember fondly liking some dash boards better than others. My Dad owned for awhile a 1950 Hudson 2-door coupe. I don't remember what model it was, I just knew that I liked that car.
Hudson's have always had a place in my heart. I liked them as a kid and I like them even more as an adult. If I could have any old car before 1954, I'd want it to be a HUDSON!
From CARS & PARTS magazine this is an excellent article from writer TIM HAWLEY. Reading it, I know why I liked Hudson's. And you know what, my Dad was right...Hudson's were good cars!

George, when I was a young fella I didn't give a second thought to the 50s Hudson marque and considered it to be bloated looking. Strangely, I loved the 49-51 Mercury design....go figure! The Hudson got my attention when I saw them perform well at my local stock car races. Their looks didn't turn my head until recent years for some strange reason and now I like them very much indeed. I always liked the post war Hudson design though and still do.

Very nice Bruce; I always liked the 47-48 coupe best and the convertible which was as rare as can be in my area.

@brush, so you were that cool family in the neighborhood? 
I can safely say that when asked to name my two favorite brands, it's hands down HUDSON and OLDSMOBILE.
