A brand name can be as powerful as the product itself. In 1960, Reuben Mattus, a Polish immigrant from the Bronx, created Häagen Dazs. The name was completely made up, designed to sound European and luxurious, even though it had no real meaning.

The strategy worked. By charging more and positioning the ice cream as premium, he turned a small family business into a billion dollar brand recognized around the world.

Branding is perception. How you present your product can change how the market values it. Never underestimate the power of story and positioning.

Ha, who knew? He didn't get me. I'm not an ice cream eater and have never tasted that brand. Always sounded good though! Cool

Hiii Jack! You're in good company - I'm Tony and I'm a Nathan's Colossal Hot Dogaholic. Welcome to the Club for diecastaholics too. (We don't put chocolate sauce OR mustard on our models!!)

@perrone1 Hello Tony and Jack. I have never had at that high priced Ice Cream although the name tempted me. As to Nathan's hot dogs, I have them at least once a week.   My biggest addiction is model car collecting although I have never tried to eat one.

LOL! Even if "Deep Fried Filet of Diecast" sounds good and potentially tempting - please do not try it my friend. TOO chewy!!

....years ago, I watched an interview with his daughter.   She said, "Dad sat at the kitchen table one night and started putting words together......"     😀 😀
