St. Patrick's day when the world turns Irish. Top O the day to ye all.
I have a lovely bottle of Bushmill's Single Malt Whisky languishing unmolested in my cabinet, with another of Scotland's finest to keep it company. I will have to toast you all with a glass of mineral water, instead.

I like the standard brand's entry whiskey's but for everyday imbibing, Perrier, SA Pellegrino's or just about any brand of cold club soda is a favorite thirst quencher!
@perrone1 I haven't had a blended whiskey, or whisky, in more than thirty years. The single malts, with some exceptions, are pure nectar and, as I am not allowed alcohol on a regular basis for health reasons, I follow the advice of my favorite doctor who once said: 'If you absolutely must have a poison, pick the best hemlock you can find.' So, my occasional tipple is single malt and the Scottish whiskys seem to treat me best.
I have nothing against the best poisons at the liquor store, except their prices. I've had two heart attacks, a stroke and what is normally a terminal cancer. 79 this May, my doctor said I don't drink enough for her to worry about it.@perrone1 I haven't had a blended whiskey, or whisky, in more than thirty years. About the only liquor that I buy that HAS to be the best, is what I have determined over the course of about 60 years, makes the best martini - Bombay Sapphire London Dry Gin and Martini & Rossi Dry Vermouth.
@perrone1 '...the best martini - Bombay Sapphire London Dry Gin and Martini & Rossi Dry Vermouth.' I was a bartender at the ripe old age of 18, having been fortunate to be born in a state with an 18-drinking age, and when I was tending bar in Florida, three years later, I had a regular who upon meeting me for the first time, gave me very explicit instructions: 'Two jiggers of Tanqueray, two ice cubes, give it two good shakes, and if you even glance at the vermouth you won't get a tip.'

Tanqueray is a good gin. I personally favor the exact botanicals of the Bombay Sapphire much more. What he ordered is the quintessential Dry Martini, no vermouth. I enjoy the traditional (with a touch of vermouth) martini but but with cracked ice to mellow the mixture and either shaken or stirred, gets that done.
@jack-dodds LOL! I shake just because it's what I do and it's traditional.
