It also sits way too high so I did some edits to see how it looked with some changes.
As found:
Dechromed, lowered and bumpers slimmed and tucked, bumper guards kept:
Clean bumper, with no guards:
I know that you purists may not favor modifications but this car has a great shape and appears to benefit from removal of items that detract from that shape.

Well....my heart is with the stock version as the '53 Ford was my first car; but both of your changes look really good IMO Terry.

I totally like all three. The bone stock is form and function. But my taste in cars says, "OHHHHH THREE! Number three for me - number three for ME!" "Please."
