Hmmm…nice opportunity to grab something (like the ‘58 Year Chrysler 300D), but some of them are a bit pricey…also, too bad there are no West Coast Precision models available (I missed getting my hands on them)…1/24 is my scale of choice…

"Optimistic" is one way to put it, "shocking" is another.
Many of those can be had for far less on secondary markets, but of course - as always - let the buyer beware. Christmas is coming and there's little doubt that more than a few either won't know and/or won't care. Afterall, every business's paramount goal is to make money. 🤑 🤑

Though I can't speak for others, I personally would rather have NEW IN BOX than something from the secondary market. And since I won't buy from eBay (talk about buyer beware), seeing these limited new models available from Mint Models, was like seeing Christmas come early. And being honest, I think the prices are very affordable. Interesting to me is that I saw my announcement for these models to be good news, but as it usually goes, some can come up with something to complain about. They wish this or wish that. Reminds of the old saying, "Some people will complain if they are hung with a new rope".

"And since I won't buy from eBay..."
Never? That's a bit surprising; I've been a buyer & seller for over 25 years. Their policies are geared to benefit buyers - there's virtually no risk. I've experienced more mistakes / issues (although always corrected ) with Amazon and Walmart.
...and for the record, millions of "new in box" items are sold on eBay every day - including diecast cars in all scales & price points.

Christopher, I'm glad your buying/selling experiences have went well. But for me, YES NEVER! I've only had three buying experiences with eBay over the last couple dozen years, and all three were headaches. Two of the experiences were riddled with issues, they yes, were resolved, BUT NOT before I had to lose a little more hair. And the other experience, I was the loser all together. Someone got my money and I never got what I ordered.

I've been an ebayer for very many years and my disappointments are a minute fraction of my positive interactions. Everyone has their opinion regarding what constitutes good value and that's how it should be. Thanks for the heads up opportunity George.

Good value and bad service are two different things. Of my 3 eBay experiences, I had no problem with the "value" of what I was attempting to buy, it was the bad service on two of the transactions and losing my money on the 3rd one. In baseball, 3 strikes and you're out. That's my feeling for eBay!

DM '48 Chrysler Town & Country for $275 "very affordable"? George, I've got a bridge for sale...

I’ve actually acquired most of my collection from eBay, as I didn’t start buying the Mint models until they were long out of business. 90% of my purchases were excellent examples, some even better than I expected, re, new in the box. A recent example;
$65- brand new in the box with all doc’s. I admit, this was probably one of my Best buys, but I’ve had a lot of them that were close. As for the Mint Models site, just one example out of many, can anyone explain the pricing on this model? I’m sure I could buy four or more pristine examples for less than this.
IMHO, the prices for these models are crazy! Long live eBay!

Yes, "very affordable". We don't have to have the old, "times have changed" discussion, do we? Or the one about, how the model is "rare" and been out of production for a long, long time. Being honest, it's really the old, "it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it" scenario.
And of course, if the price doesn't tickle your fancy or fit your pocketbook, all you need to do is move on. Me though, if I didn't have that DM '48 Chrysler Town & Country in my collection already, the price in todays world is "very affordable" to me for an oldie but goodie.

@moe-parr Barry, Kevin..... exactly right. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of diecast deals on eBay - why pay more? Even if you're worth millions - why throw it away? 😏 😏
PS
Nice score on that '56 Kevins! 😎 😎
It's great that all your buying experiences on eBay have been success stories. And yes, that DM '56 Ford Victoria is a bargain for $65. As I've said to others, if the prices at Mint Models don't float with you, no one is holding a gun to your head to pull the trigger.
I will remind those who don't know here, that Mint Models is part of this Diecast Forum, so when and if, I buy a model from them, I take in to consideration that I'm supporting our site, I get quality service and excellent models. I've dealt personally with Michelle Peters many times at Mint Models and she's always been a pleasure to work with.
