On our local high street there is a little shop which specialises in vapes and various strange items which I take to be some kind of soft drug paraphernalia, so I am naturally inclined to avert my eyes as I walk by, but imagine my surprise and delight when I glanced in their window this morning and saw what they had on offer!
One can only assume they have decided this is a product which will be of particular aesthetic appeal to their drug-crazed clientele, never realising it might be overwhelmingly attractive to a passing collector. Or that it might represent the absolute pinnacle of his collecting career.
Being more than a little embarrassed at the thought of entering these premises, I think I will have to adopt the same approach as when one enters a pharmacy to purchase incontinence products and soothing intimate gels "for a housebound friend". I will just tell them it is a birthday present for an acquaintance with debilitating mental health problems, and if they offer me a free sample of Green Mango, Bagoong/Yakult, Raspberry, Wasabi, Bacon, and Hot Dog SupaVape as a little "Thank You" for my purchase, I will gratefully accept on the basis that my friend needs a little variety in his life. Not to mention a 1:14 scale TSL pickup.
And goodness me, it only costs £149.99. That sounds a little steep, you may say, but hey, no shipping costs or customs duties, so it's a steal. Of course at that price they have had to compromise on cost by offering it in a rather plain paint finish, but I am ready for that and will apply a little suitable visual enhancement before - ahem - passing it on to the aforementioned friend. (Yeah, right).
And then I may have to give up collecting, because after this, anything else can only be an anti-climax. Still, I've had a good run.

Sounds like you may have already tried a free sample (or two ) of Bagoong/Yakult..... Enjoy your new 1/14 R/C. Oops, sorry..... tell your friend this. 😉 😉 😉
Thanks. I've passed on the message, and my friend has asked me to say "High".

OMG! Perfect paint colors for that GORGEO U S (sorry, I threw up a little right there) Tesla PU. Can't wait for John K.'s assessment.
Ahem....Graeme....dear Graeme.....friend and Forumite....anonymous Think Tanked brother......GMT valued rep.....on behalf of a significantly large number of automotive enthusiasts I would like...no love....to pleasantly suggest that you reconsider painting the subject automotive door stop or whatever it is. Please note that we sort-of support your purchase in general and actually encourage you to paint it or in fact use any other means at hand to cover it up....perhaps copious diorama shrubbery....but I digress. The literally burning (optical) issue is this:
You may recall that when you submitted your Think Tanked application your address was included and of course with your subsequent acceptance it now forms part of our records, only accessible to other TT members. We understand that you, like others, revere our beloved Moderator and would love to bless his life with this ....wedge on wheels....but we beseech you....and would even add "financial support" (4 figures) to source different replacement paint if your paint store were to suddenly run out of this color stock or god forbid be destroyed by fire or similar tragic means. We trust our friendly suggestion will be received in the manner it is intended and in closing we would like to remind you just how much we value your hard won TT membership and your expected long term association with our cerebral membership at large. To this end, please be advised that we would be prepared to send a representative to the GMT to assist in the making of the required decision if it was felt beneficial to parties affected.
Kindest regards;

My dearest Starla
Lovely to hear from you. I have absolutely no reason to doubt your credentials and your authority to address me on this issue, and I am sure that in addition to performing your secretarial duties with flair and efficiency, you are right up there amongst the leaders in the Lounge dancing stakes (i.e. in pole position at every event).
I have taken you comments to heart and have decided to repaint the Tesla SUV in a discreet matt aluminium finish which can only enhance and highlight the subtle virtues of this vehicle's body contours.
But in order not to waste the spray cans, which have already been purchased, I will use the green one to freshen up the appearance of my dried-out lawn. Then I will take the other one and get out there on Saturday night and paint the town beige.
I trust my revised plans meet with the universal approval of the TTC and of course I unreservedly apologise for any distress occasioned by my original proposal.
Yours sincerely
Lord Greenwich.
p.s. If you have any suitable photos -or even better, videos - of you performing in your professional capacity (and no, I don't mean signing dud cheques) they would be gratefully received. If they could be sent in a discreet brown wrapper, that would be appreciated.

Nice to see a potential dispute handled to a peaceful conclusion.
TSL?......The....Stupid....Looking?
Why Lord Greenwich.....you DO flatter a girl so! Plain brown wrapper it is M'Lordshipness and it may even be surprise delivered by Pole Post and I do not mean via Krakow....or do I just?
@bob-jackman Nice to see a potential dispute handled to a peaceful conclusion.
Well Bob we at Think Tanked Anonymous are proud of our rich history of consistent professionalism. This is why Starla Tschredder, a true pro in every stage of her multiple TT work environments, was our obvious choice to communicate with Graeme Ogg. Starla can be counted on to go the extra mile and energetically meet her obligations on the fly, sometimes literally. She can be counted on to resolve all issues in a timely manner with crack efficiency. We are lucky to have her as a member of our elite organization.
@lloyd-mecca HA! I laughed when I saw that box.
This 1/14 R/C is obviously an Asin knock-off that closely resembles a Tesla - BUT - they did NOT license the name. Therefore, "Tesla" becomes "TSL."
Clever, right? 😉 😉 😉
As much as I hesitate to interrupt this love fest, I feel obligated to remind all parties of the TTA of our By Laws, which clearly mention the "purity of intent" in making proposals of subject and color. Under this clause, Graeme's initial intent to use those particular colors on that particular model must be carried out once approved by the Head Color Master (who is inconveniently indisposed at the moment), who serves at the behest of the Czar of Hues, who happens to be me for the foreseeable future. As my initial silence did not signify disapproval, the committee strongly urges Graeme to continue along his wisely chosen and original path to the highest of heights in our hobby as a crowning gesture to his collecting career and an inspiration to us all.

@jkuvakas Relax Forumites and TT members! I just KNEW when push came to shove that POWER POLITICS would raise its ugly head. I thought I was reading a Mark Carney submission for a moment there! Never fear....Starla has newly amended instructions to convince Graeme to in fact "legally" use the problematic colors; say bile green interior floors and Pepto Bismol pink on the inside undercarriage floor or better yet on the inner side of the wheel rims. I am fully confident in her ability to persuade Lord Greenwich on this mission; especially with the color pink......you may remember the movie Goldfinger when the woman became gold.....well think Starla pink to drain the spray bomb. That and /or a Lord Sandwich may be in the offing....but perhaps I've said too much. I shall return to sourcing plain brown wrapping paper.
I am not a political animal, and I refuse to be swayed by edicts issuing from the rarified heights of Lounge Management.
I made Starla a promise and I am sticking to it. However, as a sop (or peace offering) to the dictatorial faction I have decided the seats, dash and interior trim will be in salmon pink and mint green, but will be hidden behind the darkest shade of window tinting permitted by law.
I trust this compromise will be acceptable to all concerned, and I look forward to receiving some deeply rewarding pictorial evidence of approval and gratitude from our own dear Starla.

@graeme-ogg Thank you again Graeme for your compassionate understanding regarding the main point of discussion, that being TT and TDZ members optical safety. Furthermore in order to avoid disappointment in the event of future Starla personal or pictoral exposure, please be advised that the ensemble worn by our clerical employee in the attached picture no longer exists as it was on lend as a promotional from the now legally shuttered JK Fashions.
