I dislike the Mercury, it is just too much everything.
Today I choose the Pontiac, in '58 it was not bad considering the styling of most cars in '58 was not too good in my opinion.
If I were old & rich enough in '58 I would have bought, the only car I really liked the styling of is the T-bird.
Pontiac by 50 miles for me. I just love everything about its styling, especially the roof and rear design flow. ! I have never been a fan of the '57 thru '59 Mercury but sure do like the shoulder years of the marque.
Pontiac. I don't really care for the flat front end of the Mercury.
I agree with Brush. I voted Pontiac, but would have bought a Tbird.
Poncho Villa over the Surfboard Suzy.
Both are beautiful American full-size automobiles from the recession year of 1958 and I like them both. Our neighbors had a 1958 Pontiac Bonneville and I am happy to have a 1/18 Yat Ming diecast model in red/white. The closest Mercury I have are 1957 Turnpike Cruisers and some 1959 big Mercurys in convertible and 2-door coupe form.
Pontiac for me too
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
Yous guys already know my answer, lol. But I do like the '58 Merc better than the 57's tacked on headlight look.😊
I like both. so I vote tie.
I voted Mercury. Was never a fan of any of the large GM cars from the 50's. Now if it was a 58 Chevy it would have gotten my vote.
Neither is a favourite but I lean slightly to the Pontiac.
Pontiac for me too. I find it to be the best looking of GM’s ‘58s.

Jack, i’m not intelligent enough to know what “shoulder years” refers to. Can you please explain? Thanks, Steve
@100ford2003 Sure Steve....it's the years preceding and right after the model year being discussed....i.e. the shoulder years of a 1960 car would be '59 and '61.
