LOL! Well, as a matter of fact John, she does. Her name is Bambi. She's gorgeous and drives a beautiful imaginary Corvette - a ZR1X with mud flaps and curb finders!

They say it requires a great deal of intelligence to view oneself as others do. IMO, that cartoon works on a few levels - it's quite good. 😀

You're completely correct. Shoe is about birds. The main 'bird' is P. Martin (he's a Purple Martin) Shoemaker; Shoe, for short. He runs the newspaper, Treetops Tatler. The bird on the couch here is Prof. Cosmo Fishhawk.(He's an Osprey) Call him Perfessor (sic). He's a columnist who works for Shoe. He's very smart but very lazy and forever overweight. He has a heart of gold, cares for his nephew, Skyler, a skylark. He drives a 1959 DeSoto that the comic writer draws quite well. Yes, it breaks down and is usually at the shop.
He dates occasionally and is usually shot down.
We no longer get the Shoe comic strip but I always liked it. A friend has a 59 DeSoto and I used to send him every strip that featured the DeSoto.
I wasn't aware that another MacNelly had picked up where the late Jeff left off. Nice to see.
I wonder if she's one of those high maintenance broads.🤔
From Wikipedia: It was written and drawn by its creator, cartoonist Jeff MacNelly, from September 13, 1977,[2] until his death in 2000. MacNelly's last strip was dated July 9, 2000;[3] it has since been continued by Chris Cassatt, Gary Brookins, Ben Lansing, and Susie MacNelly (Jeff's widow).I wasn't aware that another MacNelly had picked up where the late Jeff left off. I took care of Shirl for a long time through several bad health issues including cancer and 38 rounds of radiation treatments. The latest of these health issues was recurrent falling and subsequent injuries. But now that she is doing far, far better, I never miss the chance, when she has to ask me for something that she can't do, to say, "You're sure High Maintenance!", it's fun to see her bristle!!
@perrone1 Tony, I'm sure she felt you were her knight in shining armor during those hard times. 💯🙏
