...that appears to be from me asking for discrete and urgent contact; it's not. My only email address is my name at gmail. I have not been hacked, and neither have you. These emails and friend requests come from sophisticated software that spoofs the sender's name and goes out to any social media contacts they may have. All this contact info is available online in one form or another.

So, I will never ask you for gift cards, money, or your credit card. You should never respond to vague requests or cryptic messages. Geoff Jowett did the smart thing and asked for verification independent of the suspicious email.

Thanks for the reminder John. This sort of false contact is getting quite common.

This is getting more and more common everyday.  As good as social media is, it is eventually going to take down the world.  Sad!

As good as social media is,

...like most everything else in life, something is ONLY as good as those running it.   "A chain is only as strong as its weakest link."      😏

- Thanks John for the reminder - we ALL like to think "we're too smart that,"  but the sheer number of scams say otherwise.   😔

I agree Paul; even with our having to suffer the effects of his color blindness, JK is a pretty decent dude.

I would like to remind Forumites that JK's financial scam warning is not to be confused with his Forum Quiz ventures, I mean fun contests, offering valuable prizes, including One-HP Trabant SS Demi-coupes and the like.

Seriously though George; I'm hoping that this deceitful on line garbage gets dealt with very soon; the distrust it generates is disturbing.

@jkuvakas No need to be embarrassed about you Nigerian experience Prince JK, I mean John.  It was many years ago when your youthful, well tanned visage attracted many royalty groupies for photo ops with you.  It does help explain the source of your entrenched color preferences though......

It won't be dealt with because our country as a whole has become immoral. untrustworthy and committed to let wrongs, be right.  We no longer hold anyone accountable for their behavior or actions and it's no longer wrong to break the law.  No matter what anyone does today, they are painted as "a victim".  Good and decent people are now the  minority.  As the old saying goes, "the inmates have taken over the Asylum".
