@bob-jackman: While beautiful, take into consideration having to drive the Imperial on twisty, up & down hills, sharp turns every where, narrow roads with no shoulders, and snow with salt in the winters is where I lived my life in New England. Hence my dislike of luxury boats. Not to mention price, no one in my socal group, family or neighborhood could afford one until it was well used.
Hay, if I lived in the sunny south with straight flat wide roads and had the money and drove like a gentleman, maybe, but I don't.
I think the Imperial was a worthy, distinctive and well-engineered contender in what was then called the fine car field. While I very much like all Imperials from 1955 through 1968, I was, and still am, especially fond of the 1964 through 1966 models. I like how those versions still had the wraparound windshield, harkening back to the Forward Look days. And in 1957, Imperial was, as far as I know, the first American car to feature curved side window glass, something the other US automakers did not begin using until 1965.
Love Imperials ! From their 1930's top-of-the-line Chrysler days, through their separate marque era up until 1975, they really were cool and distinctive luxury cars ....... whether I could ever afford to own one or not.
