It’s a modified Steyr 50 body and frame with a VW engine in the rear.

@bob-jackman, well said. The original car was distinctive, albeit kinda-VW-like but still with its own personality. The original car, made in Austria, had nothing in common with the VW other than a resemblance. The Steyr was actually a bit more sophisticated.  A whole bunch of work went into making the one pictured above look more like a Bug.

@jkuvakas Only built from 1936 to '40.....that's the reason I never heard of it I suppose.  The styling looks post war to me; although I think I do see a scaled down Chrysler Airflow influence.  It's a cool little beast.
